Department of Microbiology and Immunology

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the School of Medicine is conducting novel and exciting research into the ways in which infectious agents cause disease and how the host immune system responds to these threats. Knowledge gained from these studies is being applied to the development of new vaccines and treatments for infectious diseases such as influenza, Ebola, MERS, and cholera, as well as novel immunotherapies for cancer and autoimmune diseases. Departmental faculty also play key roles in the teaching and training of medical students, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

Gifts to the Department will further advance the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases and cancer as well as supporting the training of the next generation of researchers.
